BSE and NSE Close Today

The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) are closed today, May 1st, for Maharashtra Day, also known as Labor Day. On this holiday all types trading activities are prohibited: futures and options; stocks; securities borrowing and lending scheme (SLBs); currency derivatives; interest rate derivatives.

As BSE, NSE Closed Today, On a modified schedule commodity derivatives will trade – closed from 9 AM to 5 PM during morning session but reopening for the evening one at 5 PM until 11:55 PM.

Normal trading shall be resumed on Thursday, May 2nd

Yesterday’s session of April 30 was marked by high volatility ended up in red with major indices giving away their intraday gains. Sensex fell down by -188.50 pts or -0.25% finishing at 74,482.78 while Nifty dropped by -38.60 pts or -0.17% settling at 22,604.80.

Declines were seen in IT sector along with metals media oil & gas healthcare while auto power realty sectors showed some strength among broader markets where BSE midcap outperformed benchmarks hitting fresh high closing +0.5% higher even smallcap index ended flat.

“Nifty faced selling pressure near previous highs which led to weak close however indicators like 20-day & 50-day Simple Moving Averages are below index indicating positive trend is still intact RSI also suggests bullish crossover” said Rupak De Sr Technical Analyst LKP Securities.

Rupee appreciated slightly ending at 83.43 per dollar vs previous close of 83.47 “Rupee has been steady amidst volatile capital market conditions with everyone watching US interest rate decision next week” commented Jateen Trivedi VP Research Analyst LKP Securities.
